Board certification
Fewer than one percent of Texas lawyers hold it.
Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1997. Certification requires substantial trial experience, peer review from judges and other lawyers, and a written examination in the specialty.
It is not awarded once and kept. It has to be re-earned periodically, which is why holding it continuously since 1997 says something a date alone does not.
The state board publishes every certified lawyer. The link above goes to his entry on it, not to a page written by us.
The rest of the record
Former Chief Prosecutor, Harris County.
Assistant District Attorney and Chief Prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney's Office. Over 35 years in state and federal criminal practice.
The prosecutor years are the part that changes the work rather than decorating it: a charging decision reads differently to someone who used to make them.
